Mangaluru, Mar 6,2017 : City Mayor Harinath who has just a few days left in office has said that he has the satisfaction of making Mangaluru City Corporation a people friendly institution during his one year tenure.
Addressing press persons at Circuit House on March 6, Monday to enlist his achievements, Harinath said a big satisfaction has been the inclusion of Mangaluru under the Smart City Project and attributed the success to the constant efforts on the part of the MCC. Pointing out at the proposal to have three zonal offices for MCC, he said if the Suratkal office is already operational, the rest two at Lalbagh and Kadri will be operational by March end.
Expressing happiness that the city has become defecation free during his tenure, the Mayor said the only regret however has been that he could not make the city plastic-free. Still the cause can be pursued with good co-operation from the citizens, he added.
Referring to Malaria cases, he added that there has been a 45 per cent reduction in the number of cases reported during the past six months.
Harinath further stated that the MCC has acquired ten acres at Vamanjoor and some land at Kunjathbail to dispose waste and debris. All street lights will also be replaced by LED bulbs, he added.
Harinath also expressed gratitude to all elected representatives, officials, state government as well as ministers for assisting him in his work.
