MCC finally completes Surathkal Sewage Plant after 13 years; inauguration on Jan 11

Mangaluru, January 7, 2016: Mangalore City Corporation finally fixed date for commission of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 16.5 MLD at Surathkal connecting 90-km long underground pipelines from Hosabettu, Kulai, Katipalla and Surathkal after a decade long wait.

Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake will inaugurate the STP in the presence of  Health Minister, Minister of Forest,Ecology & Environment Ramanath Rai, U.T.Khader, Minister of Fisheries and Youth Service, Abhaya Chandra Jain and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on on January 11, 2016.

Mohiudeen Bava, MLA announced this to the media at a press meet held at Mangalore City Corporation on Jan 7th 2016.

This STP project was initiated fifteen years back under Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (KUDCEMP) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and work stated in the year 2003 and really took off in 2007 due to legal issues. 

Foundation stone will be laid for the construction of concrete roads in interior parts of Kavoor and Ulaibettu and NMPT will install street lights between Kuloor and Baikampaady. Concrete roads will also be constructed between Adhyapaadi and Kaikamba, Bava said.
