Mangaluru, May 12, 2017 : As part of the process of fully computerising the functioning of the Mangaluru City Corporation, its revenue division will go paperless  from May 15, informed Mayor Kavitha Sanil.

Speaking to reporters at the MCC  office here on May 12, Friday she said   all dealings of the revenue  department would go paperless  and added that efforts would be made to fully computerise other divisions too.

She stated that the task of laying footpaths on either side of the roads in Mangaluru is underway and sought public co-operation in the endeavour. Officials have already  identified various spots and have spoken to the  residents of the area. Some have agreed to let their land while others have not responded, she said and added that citizens will have to co-operate keeping in  mind the  development of basic infrastructural facilities.  Anyone facing any problem in this regard can  meet me directly, she added.

There is a plan to have a free-left rule at some junctions to ease traffic. However the facility will need land and can be a reality only if public co-operate, the Mayor said.

The task of cleaning side drains have commenced and  a five member team has been constituted for the purpose. So far 90 drains have been identified and 70 per cent of the works are complete. Even citizens  should give priority to keep drains clean, she added.
