M’luru origin former diplomat and Gandhian’s book released by Japanese Princess

Mangaluru, Apr 14, 2018 : The Japanese edition of ’Gandhi’s Outstanding Leadership’ was released by Her Highness Princess Takamodo at the elegant Swami Vivekananda Indian Cultural Centre in Tokyo, last week. She did this draped in the Indian silk stole presented to her by Pascal Alan Nazareth .
In her remarks Princess Takamodo revealed that she had read the book and urged those in the audience to do so as it presents the various components of Gandhi’s leadership and its global impact / contemporary pertinence by a widely travelled Indian ambassador in a perceptive / erudite manner .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi graciously sent a felicitatory Message for this release.
The book, "GANDHI’S OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP" authored by Bangalore based, well known retired Diplomat and Founder/ Managing Trustee of Sarvodaya International Trust, Pascal Alan Nazareth, is a distinguished personality of Karnataka. He hails from a Mangalorean family of well known nationalists, one of his sisters Mrs. Margaret Alva, was Governor of Uttarkhand and has been active in politics. Many books have been written and read on the Mahatma, our father of the nation, whose birth anniversary is marked on October 2.
The Author retired from Indian Foreign Service (IFS) after serving for 35 years in 1994. Among his postings are Ambassador in Egypt, Mexico, Liberia, Ghana; held other key diplomatic postings at Tokyo,Rangoon, New York, Lima, Chicago, and London, too. In 2007, author P A Nazareth became a recipient of the prestigious ’U THANT PEACE AWARD’ for his "life time of dedication and world service in promoting Gandhian ideals" - the previous recipients of this award are Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul-II, The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and many other greats. This distinguished figure often referred to as ’Alan Nazareth’ spends his retirement following in the footsteps of the Mahatma - literally. The prime component of the book is Gandhi’s leadership elevated vision of humanity.
The Japanese edition was translated by Prof. Pema Gyalpo, a Japanese citizen of Tibetan origin who spend his early years in Darjeeling. He made this translation as a "labour of love" / his respectful tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and refused to accept even the modest US $ 1000 honorarium which Sarvodaya International Trust ( which has published the 5 English editions of this book ) has been paying to its foreign language translators.
This edition has been published by Manyo Sha Publishing Compnay of Tokyo, which earlier has published books on Indian philosophy and those authored by His Holiness the Dalia Lama and Deepak Chopra
April 7 was the authors 82nd birthday. Japanese was his Indian Foreign Service language. The Japanese edition is the 20th foreign language edition of the book.
