Lure of jobs in Canada : Mumbai travel agency takes several in DK for a ride

Belthangady, Dec 16, 2016 : Police are on the lookout for a travel agency owner from Mumbai and two of his brokers living in Mangaluru and Belthangady respectively  in connection with a case of cheating wherein the trio  had defrauded as many as 31 people from the district after collecting hefty sums from them with a promise to offer lucrative jobs in Canada.

The accused have been identified as Sagar Marker, the kingpin of the racket who operated Globus Travel Enterprises  Ltd at Dahisar Mumbai and his two agents namely John Ivan D’Souza of Padamale in Mangaluru taluk and Alphonse Moras from Belthangady. Sources revealed that they had collected Rs 3 lakh to 4 lakh from male job aspirants and Rs 2 lakh from women.

 It has been gathered that Sagar used to offer  commission ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 45000 per person to his agents. However when  Sagar  shut down his firm in March this year the two agents were in the lurch with people who have paid  huge sums approaching them and questioning them for their false promises.

It has been learnt that several who have been cheated by the trio have lodged complaints and investigations are underway.
