Lorry runs over engineering students

Udupi, Jul 18: A lorry, in the course of steering clear of an overtaking bus, ran over a couple of engineering students, killing one of them and seriously injuring the other. The tragic incident took place at Padubidri on NH17 in the afternoon of July 17, Saturday.

The deceased student is Pooja Shetty (22), the daughter of Kodethuruguthu Gopalakrishna Shetty, a III year civil engineering student at NMAMIT Nitte, who was waiting for the bus with her friend Nikita, the daughter of Karunakara Shetty of Bada Yermal.

Nikita was admitted to a private hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

The Padubidri police have registered a case.
