Mangaluru, April 15, 2021: Police have arrested six more persons in connection with cases of theft and dacoity reported from Bajpe, Mulki and Moodbidri Police Station limits. Already nine others have been arrested and with the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested in the case has risen to 15.
Informing this to reporters here on April 15, Thursday, City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said the prime accused in the case and several other accused are yet to be arrested.
Those arrested are Rakesh, Arjun, Mohan, Mohammad Zubair, Ibrahim Latif and Boliyar Mansoor. Police have seized car, ,mobile phones, air gun, gold and silver all worth Rs 41.82 lakhs from the arrested.
They have been produced before the court and taken into police custody, the Commissioner said.
The accused were wanted in seven cases in Mangaluru, eight cases in the district, two in Hassan, three cases in Chikkamagaluru, two cases in Udupi, five in Kodagu and one case in Bengaluru.
The Commissioner said the accused had earlier made a vain bid to loot the Axis Bank at Arehole in Hassan.
The Commissioner said the pistol which the accused had stolen from a house at Arehole was used in a murder attempt case at Falnir. The accused Mansoor had sold the pistol to Sameer who was arrested in the murder attempt case, the Commissioner said.
DCPs Hariram Shanker, Vinay Gaonkar, ACP Ranjith Bandaru were present at the press meet.
