Mangaluru, Jan 15, 2016 : A longstanding demand of autorickshaw drivers has been fulfilled wit h Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who is also the RTA Chairman issuing orders increasing minimum auto fares to Rs 25 with effect from January 15, Friday.
The order states that the fare has been revised considering the increase in costs of fuel, spare parts, insurance premium as well as essential commodities.
As per the orders, the minimum fare is Rs 25 for the first 1.5 kms for maximum three passengers and the fare would be Rs 13 for every one km travelled thereafter. If waiting charge is free for the first 15 minutes, thereafter 25 per cent of the fare is fixed as waiting charge for every 45 minutes. As far as luggage charges are concerned, it is free for the first 20 kgs and Rs 2 per kg for every additional 20 kg. Drivers can charge one and a half times of the fare between 10 pm and 5 am.
The order states that all details of the driver must be clearly displayed behind the driver’s seat. Any complaint can be made by calling toll free number 1077 or by sending an SMS to 9481802019. The digital fare meter in the autorickshaws will need to be modified so that they display the revised rates. This has to be done within the next 60 days, states the order.
