Lokayukta police nab MCC employees for accepting bribes

Mangalore, July 2: Lokayukta police caught two employees at the Suratkal office of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) when they were receiving bribes from a tax consultant. Office Superintendent Laxminarayana and Clerk Rama are the ones guilty of accepting bribes. The Lokayukta police acted as per a complaint lodged by Prabhakar Shenoy, the tax consultant.

Mr. Shenoy had submitted four files for conversion and they had been pending for the past 6 months. Allegedly, the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 4000 for Laxminaryana and Rs 2000 for Rama.

The Lokayukta team led by SP Sadananda Varnekar and Inspector Udaya Naik caught the accused red-handed when they were receiving the first installment of Rs 2,500. The two were later arrested.
