Speaking at the birthday celebrations of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi organised by district unit of Congress, at St Joseph’s Prashanth Nivas in Jeppu here on December 9.

Stating that Sonia Gandhi had even denied the post of Prime Minister, Poojary said she ensured to pass the food security bill guaranteeing food to people. She also took steps to provide compulsory education to children within 14 years.  Sacrifice of Nehru family to the nation is memorable. But, efforts are being made to sideline the contributions of Nehru family, said senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary.  The people who allege that the Nehru family has been carrying on with hereditary administration, should question themselves whether the families of Vasundhara Raje and Yeddyurappa have not been carrying on with hereditary administration, he said.

Action against disturbances  :  Speaking to media on the side lines, Poojary urged the State government to initiate stern action against the violators of law during the clashes in Vamanjoor and Ulaibettu. Poojary meanwhile said that no concession should be given to violators of law, even if they are religious priests.  The State government should take immediate and stern action against the violators of law, he urged and added that Goonda Act should be imposed upon the people who deliver provocative speeches.

The communally tensed situations in the coastal district would create fear among tourists and students from other places.   Hence, the government should make all efforts to maintain law and order and ensure  peace in the region.

Poojary further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stresses upon communal violence. But, the members of his  party including the MPs and ministers have been making provocative statements,  this needs a proper perspective.
