Lions Club organizes Special Olympics for special kids

Mangalore, November 8: Lions Club Valencia held “Special Olympics,” a sports event for special children at Mangala Stadium on Nov 8, Monday. The event was inaugurated by Air Marshal Commander AVS. J. K. Rao, the district governor of Lions Club, presided over the event.

The Special Olympics included 120 events such as semi marathon, marathon, walking race, running race, lemon and spoon race, and so on.

Mayor of Mangalore Rajani Dugganna hoisted the flag and said that the achievements of special children should get international recognition. She also remarked that the sports meet gives these children the opportunity to exhibit their talents. She concluded by lauding the efforts of the NGOs to help special children develop in life.

Around 400 special children from schools such as Asare of Manipal, Arunodaya of Karkala, Chethan and Sanidhya of Mangalore, Lions School of Suratkal, St. Joseph School of Jeppu, Christ King Navachethana School of Venoor, and St. Joseph School of Jeppu participated in the event.
