Lightning strikes at Perla DK one killed

Mangaluru, Mar 10, 2015: Lightning took away a young life at Perla near Siddavana in Ujire of Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district on March 9.

 Surendra Shirlalu (25.yrs), a resident of Shirlalu village in Belthangady taluk was the victim. The incident took place when it rained heavily in Ujire and surrounding areas. Surendra and many others were waiting for bus at a shelter when the lighting struck. Surendra died on the spot, four others with serious injuries were taken to a nearby hospital.

This is the second death in the district in the past two days. It may be recalled that Divakar Acharya (37), a professional photographer and videographer of Puttur, had died due to a wall collapse at Koyyur in Belthangady taluk on March 8.
