someshwarMangaluru, Jan 4, 2015: Lifeguards at Someshwar beach saved four women from drowning on Saturday in two separate incidents. On Saturday, Poornima (32), Geetha (31) and Sajeevathi (22) from Haveri district entered the sea from Someshwar temple and the Lifeguards saw their struggles and saved them.

Two hours later, Shashi (22) from Bengaluru, who was sitting on a big rock on the beach, slipped into the water. Lifeguards at the beach brought her to the shore, said the Yatish Baikampady, Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project.

Observing that the Sea is unusually rough from the past four to five days, Yathish said the lifeguards have been constantly warning the tourists from venturing in to the Sea. Noting that there was fair enough crowd at the beach even in the morning, Yathish said the people who watch the three women getting sucked in alerted the lifeguards. They were left a bit dazed by the incident, but otherwise fine, Yathish noted.

Mr. Baikampady, whose firm has been authorised to develop Someshwar Beach, said in the last three years the lifeguards of their firm have saved 47 persons.
