Life Guards save lives of six college students at Panambur beach

Mangaluru: September 19, 2015: Lifeguards at Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project have rescued six persons, including three Coimbatore based degree college students from being drowned in the Arabian Sea at Panambur in the last two days.

While three students from K G College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore were rescued on Saturday, the lifeguards pulled out three youths from Chembur on Friday, giving the tourists a new lease of extended life.

Yatish Baikampady, chief executive officer of PBTBP said Vinod, son of Mutthuvelu hailing from 27, 5th cross, 8th main, Narayana Gowda Layout, Thavarekere, Bengaluru, Ramachandran, son of Chandran, # 117, Center Street, Coimbatore, and Vishnu son of A R Ayyappan, Nova Apartment, Paniyappa Street, Coimbatore were rescued on Saturday. They were part of a group of 47 persons including two teachers who had come on a study tour.

On Friday, the lifeguards rescued three youths from Mumbai who work for a project in Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. Employed by S B Engineering, the youths are from HP Colony, New Bharath Nagar in Chembur. They are Imran Khan, 24, son of Abdul Razak Khan; Akram Sheikh, 25, son of Mushthak Sheikh, and Masthan Sheikh, 19, son of Abdullha Sheikh. The lifeguards of the project have saved 162 lives till date, Yatish said.
