Mangaluru, Dec 05, 2020: Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra has warned that licenses of city buses in Mangaluru which fail to install GPS facility will be cancelled.
Addressing a meeting of Regional Transport Authority at the DC office auditorium here on December 4, Friday, the DC said GPS installation is mandatory in view of the safety of passengers. The GPS installation should be done within the next 15 days failing which stern action will follow, the DC warned. He also stated that already the bus operators have been aksed many times to install GPS.
Officials present in the meeting informed that only 70 out of the 320 buses in Mangaluru city limits have GPS facility. Responding to this, City Bus Operators’ Association President Dilraj Alva said bus owners have already been asked to install GPS.
Representatives of autorickshaw drivers’ unions present in the meeting stressed the need to develop auto parks which have been shifted during Smart City works.
Mangaluru RTO R M Varnekar, SP B M Laxmiprasad, MCC Deputy Commissioner Santosh Kumar, Traffic ACP Nataraj and others were present.
