Let MLAs raise voice for funds: UT Khader

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2019: District In-charge Minister U T Khader said that if the BJP MLAs have any concern for the people of coastal districts, then they should allow a discussion in the legislature session and demand grants for the projects to be started in the district. It is not right on their part to enter the well of the house and stage a protest, he said.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said, "If the MLAs fail to raise their voice in the session, then it will be an injustice to the people of the district. Instead of the welfare of the people of the state during the presentation of the budget, the BJP was engaged in politics. The BJP wants to create confusion ahead of Lok Sabha polls. Hence, they are least bothered on participating in the discussions during the budget."

He said the chief minister has presented a far-sighted budget by including special package for paddy growers, earmarking funds for the development of Panambur and Sasihithlu beaches, feasibility report on knowledge-education corridor from Manipal-Konaje, and also on a feasibility report on Metro rail in Mangaluru. The budget has also earmarked funds for the repair of Rajakaluve to check artificial flood in Mangaluru, he said.

Khader said, "The Speaker will take a decision on audio clip. As the audio clip has mentioned the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and judge, it should be discussed in the Parliament as well."

An attempt is being made to destabilise the state government for the last few months. The attempt to topple the government by luring the MLAs will not yield any result, he said.
