Mangaluru Feb 12, 2016: Senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary has demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to auction his precious watch and donate the proceeds to braveheart Lance Naik Hanumanthappa and his family.
Speaking to the Press in Congress office on February 12, Friday, he said that the Chief Minister’s announcement of a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs, 4 acres of land and a government job for Hanumanthappa’s family is appreciable."This reveals his concern for the braveheart’s family," Poojary added.
Regarding the statement of Siddaramaiah that the watch was ’gifted’ to him, Poojary said the Chief Minister ought not have received the gift which has now given a tool to the opposition to target him.
"Since the past two years, the Chief Minister has earned the love and respect of the people for his sincere work. In order to retain it and also to save the name and fame of the party it is better for him to auction the watch," Poojary said.
Former mayor Mahabala Maarla, TK Sudhir and others were present.
