Lady lecturer accuses DSS activist of harassment - SC ST meet

Mangaluru, Sep 14, 2015 :  A lady lecturer accused Anand Bellare, an activist from Karnataka Rajya Dalith Sangarsha Samiti, of harassment after he obtained her employment details through the Right to Information Act.

The lady revealed this to  DK Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. during the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes grievance meeting Sept 13.

Revati M.L., a lecturer from Government First Grade College in Bantwal, said the activist had threatened her of dismissal from service for an alleged fake caste certificate.  He has been misusing the information provided under RTI.

The lady  said she hailed from the Mugera community. A native of Kasaragod, she studied there,  after which she continued her studies in Udupi before moving to Mangaluru University to pursue M.Com. She was appointed lecturer on passing the National Eligibility Test.  She said her appointment was under the general merit category and that she had not claimed reservation. The caste certificate was issued by the Udupi tahsildar, she said.

Anand Bellare sent letters to my college accusing me of using a fake caste certificate. He also addressed a press conference showing me in bad light.  Janhavi, a teacher from Guttigaru Government High School, said she was also being harassed by activist  Bellare.

Defending Bellare’ action, samiti district convenor Girish Kumar U.K. said they were against persons from neighbouring States who claim reservation by getting fake caste certificates.   Just like the lady in question  we are collecting information on other persons who have taken false caste certificates. If  Bellare has misused information then let him be punished.

SP  Sharanappa said the genuineness of the caste certificate would be looked into by the Civil Rights Enforcement wing of the State Police.   Misuse of RTI   will be investigated as a case of extortion, the SP added.
