Lady chain snatcher trapped by bus passengers at Kinnigoli

Mangaluru, Aug 8,2015 : A woman said to be of Tamil Nadu origin was trapped red handed  while she attempted to snatch the chain of a child who was travelling in a bus  operating on the Mangaluru-Kinnigoli route along with her mother and other family members on August 7, Friday.

Chitra, a resident of Suratkal along with her kid Dhatri and family members were  returning home in the Sarvani Travels bus  after a visit to Kateel shrine when the incident took place.

Some passengers in the  bus who noticed a woman trying to snatch the chain from Dhatri’s neck immediately informed the conductor. Soon, the bus crew and passengers forced the woman to  alight the bus at Kinnigoli bus stand. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of local panchayat member Sunita Rita Rodrigues who in turn intimated the Mulki police who arrested the woman.

It is believed that chain snatchers  were taking advantage of the heavy rush in the buses operating on the Kateel routé particularly during Fridays.

It may be recalled here that just a day earlier, on August 6, two unidentified motorbike bound men had snatched the chain of a woman after enquiring her  about some address at Guttakadu near Kinnigoli.
