Labourers Union demand upgradation of Wenlock Hospital

Mangalore, Dec 20, 2013: Sudutta Jain district chief secretary of All India Labourers Union said that although Wenlock government hospital has been serving the lower class people such as beedi workers, building workers and others from past 165 years, no representatives has taken initiative to upgrade it with innovative facilities.

Addressing the press meet held at Press Club on Dec 20, Friday, he said that the present health minister U T Khader also belongs from Dakshina Kannada and even he has failed to work for the welfare of poor patients. 


Jain also said that various organizations had staged protest to demand the development of the hospital and submitted many memorandums to top officials, but their regular transfers have made all the efforts of organizations go in vain.


He also put forth certain demands such as to let off  APL and BPL classifications in the hospital, provide all facilities and medicines in the hospital itself, to provide Health security to beedi workers, building workers and other unorganized workers and upgrade hospital to provide better service to people.


If the government fails to respond to the demands, then the organization will stage protest in the hospital premises on January 3.


Union district secretary Dinesh J.P, city convener Gladwin, district organizer Jagdish Maroli and district spokesperson Harish Kumar Shetty were present.
