Kundapur, May 5, 2015 : Police investigation into the case of suspicious death of an elderly woman in a lodge in the town recently,  has come to the conclusion that it was a murder for gain. Police have now converted this into a case of murder.

Already, Azhar Afzal Khan of Mumbai has been arrested in connection with the case with the help of Mumbai cops. Interrogations of the accused have revealed that  Azhar who worked in a garment shop    had even  misappropriated funds from the shop  eight years ago. It is said he used to befriend women and then somehow manage to escape with their valuables.

Even in the Kundapur case too, he had escaped with about 12 sovereigns gold including chain and bangles after murdering Lalitha Devadiga. He had then fled to Mumbai where he had sold the jewels at a shop.

 Sources said the police could  arrest Azhar  in Mumbai with the help of a woman who knew Azhar as well as Lalitha Devadiga’s daughter  Vaishnavi.
Further investigations are underway.
