Kundapur, Sep 05, 2015:
Autorickshaw drivers of Trasi picketed the local Gram Panchayat office on September 4, Friday accusing the administration of being apathetic towards their problems by not allocating space for them to park their vehicles near the Trasi Circle.

Autorickshaw drivers who earlier used to park their vehicles close by the circle had to vacate the place last September following instructions from the authorities and in order to facilitate the Kundapur-Karwar NH widening works.

But, the administration had later turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the drivers to allot 30 cents land  belonging to the PWD for parking purposes. The drivers allege that the administration which failed to heed to the demand, instead fenced the area  coming under PWD and  even allowed petty shops close by the circle.

Venkatesh Pai, President of Autorickshaw Drivers Association and Pramod, its Secretary have warned of severe protest in the days to come by resorting to an indefinite strike in front of the GP office if their demands were not met with.

The Panchayat Development Officer has informed that the  Panchayat would talk to the PWD over the issue.
