Kundapur: Several children hurt as school bus overturns near Byndoor

Kundapur, Dec 18, 2014:  Three children sustained serious injuries and as many as 23 suffered minor injuries when a school bus  overturned at Ottinene near Byndoor  on December 18, Thursday morning.  The bus driver fearing reprimand however fled from the scene of the mishap.

 

 

 

The bus was heading towards the HMMMS School in Byndoor from Bhatkal. The seriously injured injured Afan, Sharukh and Vida have been admitted to KMC Hospital in Manipal while the children who sustained minor injuries were admitted to a private hospital in Kundapur.

The accident occurred at around 8.30 am. It is learnt the bus had nearly 60 children. Luckily, the bus did not topple a  little distance away as otherwise it would have rolled into a deep gorge resulting in casualties.

Tahsildar Gayatri Nayak and police officials have visited the spot.Investigations are underway.
