Kundapur: Quarrel in drunken stupor ends in murder of woman by paramour

Kundapur, Sep 28, 2015: A quarrel between a couple  in a drunken stupor in their house at Koraga Colony at Kumbhashi on September 27, Sunday night culminated in the murder of the woman.

 

 

The deceased woman is Jayamala (35). She  was a former member of Beejady Gram Panchayat. Jayamala who was first  married to Ramesh from Hallihole and even had three children from him, later abandoned her husband and children to live with Papanna  at Kumbhashi Koraga colony. It is  said since then she had turned into an alcoholic  along with Papanna and the couple used to quarrel frequently.

The two used to sometimes say in a house at Beejady and sometimes at the Koraga colony where the house belonged to Papanna’s mother. The murder took place when the couple   was at the Kumbhashi colony house.

The murder came to light on September 28, Monday  morning  and Jayamala’s clothes were found torn and  injury marks were also spotted on her head and back. Papanna who is suspected to have killed Jayamala is absconding.

 Papanna who too was already married to a woman name Lalitha had begun staying with Jayamala after the death of his wife a few years ago.

Jayamala’s first husband Ramesh  arrived at Kumbhashi colony on learning about his wife’s murder. Senior police officials including SP   Annamalai also visited the crime scene. Search is on for the missing Papanna.
