Family sources said Indira’s son has been crying since long saying he wanted to see his mother. Meanwhile, women of the village picketed the local police station on April 13, Monday demanding that the police handed over the arrested youth to them. The protest was led by Radha Das Kumbhashi, President of the Mookambika  Federation of women’s organisations. The organisation also plans another protest on April 16, Thursday demanding strictest punishment to the culprit.

It has been gathered that the police who had arrested the accused on April 11, Saturday took him to the scene of the crime only on Monday but had to quickly return as a large crowd had gathered there and there was a possibility of the mob attacking the accused.

The arrested man has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. Here too a large crowd had gathered and the cops had to shift him to Hiriadka Prison after taking him through the court’s back door.

Meanwhile, an eerie silence pervades the house of Prashanth Mogaveera and his family members are unable to digest that the youth had resorted to such a heinous crime.  It is said Prashanth’s bed-ridden grandfather too is in a state of shock.

It has been gathered that the police are planning to seek custody of the accused.
