Kundapur: New twist to child abduction, death case

Kundapur, July 13, 2019:  The case of abduction of two year old Sanvika and the subsequent tracing of the body of the child in the Kubja river near their house in the remote village of Edamoge in Shankernarayana Police Station limits, has taken a new turn with  sources indicating that  the child’s mother had attempted suicide along with her two children  including Sanvika.


kidnap13julyThe police had suspected the statement of  the child’s mother Rekha Naik who had alleged that two masked men had fled with the child who was sleeping beside her in the house and had  escaped by jumping into the Kubja river.

 Police have subjected Rekha to intense inquiry when her statements seemed to be contradictory. She is also said to be suffering from mental depression and was also subject to counselling.

Police who have registered a case that the child died due to drowning, are yet to arrive at a definite conclusion regarding the circumstances that led to the death of the child.

Meanwhile police sources said the Department has gathered vital clues regarding the case.
