The young woman  informed media men who were  present at the venue of her protest that  her lover Sachin who had promised  marriage and also used to phone her and send her messages daily, had taken her to a private hotel at Manipal on  August 4 where he had developed physical relationship with her. She has alleged that her lover had tried to distance her a month later and that even his family members were unresponsive forcing her to lodge a complaint with the Udupi Women’s Police Station. She says though Sachin’s family agreed for the marriage, he has been missing since October 12 following which she lodged a complaint with Manipal  police and Udupi SP. She also  said she would sit on a dharna until Sachin meets her.

When Sachin’s family was contacted they said they came to know about the affair only after they were summoned to the police station. They say as  Sachin has not yet completed 21 years, they would think of his marriage later on. They further argue that Sachin had said that he was being unnecessarily blamed and that he has even threatened to commit suicide. They state  that Sachin who had slept at home on October 12 night had later gone missing. They also contended that they had no objection if the two married.
