Kundapur, Feb 11, 2015: The Kundapur and Shankernarayana Police have busted a racket involved in thefts of donation boxes of temples. Four persons said to be associated with this racket were arrested on February 10, Tuesday.
The accused, it is said were also wanted in cases of thefts of arecanuts from houses. Police have also recovered a cash of Rs one lakh, a Tata Indigo car, a Tata 407 tipper, two motor bikes and iron rods.
Those arrested are Shanker Sauda, Gopal Mogaveera Kavardy, Vijay Petri and Harish Salikeri. Meanwhile, another accused Pethri Vighnesh Shetty managed to give the cops a slip.
Police informed that the interrogations of the accused have revealed that they were involved in the thefts in Ganapathi Temple in Sauda, Brahma Baidarkala Garody near Saibarakatte, Hiliyana Garody, Baishakti Daivasthana at Brahmavar and Ayyappa Shrine at Shankernarayana.
