Kundapur, May 27, 2015:  Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes speaking at the inaugural of  the blood bank, established by Indian Red Cross Society in the Government hospital in Kundapur on May 26, Tuesday said that human blood a life dependent material can be generated only in humans, synthetic blood is yet to be reliable; so, establishing blood banks, Red Cross organisation has been carrying out a great unique service to man kind. 

 Kundapur Blood bank inauguratedBy saving lives and providing blood in emergencies, the Red Cross has been an invaluable asset extolled for its services for ages now.

MP Fernandes added that the organisation has been responding to the essential needs of the injured and sick, the contribution of Rs 41 lakh to the blood bank from his Rajya Sabha funds has been made use of for a genuine cause.


  Karnataka State Red Cross Society Chairman Basrur Rajiv Shetty presided over the programme, Vice Chairman Dr C Somshekhar, Secretary Ashok Shetty, state blood bank Convener A B Shetty were present among others.


Oscar Fernandes and his wife were felicitated on the occasion. Kundapur Merchants Association made a contribution to the blood bank.
