Kundapur: Accused arrested in murder of elderly man at Navunda

Kundapur, Mar 22, 2016: A person arrested in connection with the murder of Masti Madahav Poojary (62) on March 18, Friday at his residence at Navunda.

The Byndoor police were successful in tracing the culprit within the three days of the murder. The accused is identified as Narasimha. He was 45 years and hails from Sirsi.


Narasimha was the neighbour of Madhava poojary and was out in work from past four years.  Narasimha was married and a relative of Madhav too.


He was all alone in his house at Navunda from four years as his wife stays in Mumbai with their son. Two daughters stay in Mysuru. The family was quite well off.


With the intention to rob, Narasimha gained entry into the house from the back door attacked him with sickle. He took away a gold chain, a gold ring and some petty cash from the house and escaped.


On investigations, the police enquired the family as well as the neighbours and others who knew about Madhava. Noticing marks on Narasimha’s face, hands and chest the police grew suspicious. He was taken for medical examination and the doctor confirmed that the bruises were nail marks. The police confirmed the marks were made by Madhava during his struggle for life against Narasimha. He was taken into custody by the police.


The investigation team was led by Byndoor SI Santhosh Kini and Gangolly SI Subbanna. Narsimha  was produced to the court on March 22, Tuesday is said.
