Kundapur : 12 trucks transporting sand illegally intercepted by villagers

Kundapur, Nov 26, 2016: As many as 12 trucks which were illegally transporting sand were  intercepted and handed over to the police by villagers of Halnadu in the taluk on the night of November 24, Thursday. The villagers also resorted to a protest against the   violation of sand  mining rules resulting in increasing cases of sand smuggling.

 

It may be recalled here that the department concerned though had raided  Anagalli, Kandlur and other places where illegal sand mining was underway in the past, no raid was conducted at Halnadu reportedly due to the  involvement of influential persons in this illegal act.
