Kumble: Cops arrest 4 in youth murder case

Kasargod, Feb 26, 2015:  A  police team led by DySP Ranjith which is investigating into the case of murder  of a youth at Kumble  on February 22, Sunday, has arrested as many as four persons at Puttur. A car has also been seized from the accused.

 

Those arrested are Basith (22) of Kuntagaradka,  Logi Siddique (32) from Arikkady, Farooq (27) from Koippady and  Faiz (22), an autoricksha driver  from Kumble.

It may be recalled here that Mohammad Sakir  was murdered in Kumble following a clash over an issue of pass during a football match. The murder had triggered violence with several cases of stoning reported from the town. Shops had also remained closed following the incidents.

The four were arrested  following a tip off. Though the accused gathering information about the arrival of the police, tried to escape, the cops succeeded in apprehending them. Police sources said all the four were under the influence of alcohol when arrested.

The police are yet to trace the weapons used to kill Sakir. Further investigations are underway.
