Kulshekar parish welcomes new assistant priest Fr. Melwyn Norohna

Mangalore, June 1: Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Holy Cross Church in Kulshekar, warmly welcomed the new assistant parish priest of Holy Cross Church Rev. Fr. Melwyn Noronha when he arrived at 4:00 p.m. on May 31, 2011.

Mr. Praveen Patrao, the vice president of Holy Cross Church, welcomed the gathering at a formal welcome programme held to welcome the new priest. Mr. George D’Souza, the secretary of Holy Cross Church; Mr. Stany D’Souza; Mr. Sushil Noronha; and Mr. Edward Monteiro welcomed the guests with flowers.

Fr. John Baptist Moras, the assistant parish priest of Kulshekar Church, celebrated Holy Mass.

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto spoke of the various activities conducted by the church. Stating that the parish is one of the biggest in the Diocese of Mangalore, he said that Fr. Noronha played an important role in the Centenary Year of the Church in 2012.

Rev. Fr. Baptist Menezes, the Episcopal Vicar, said in his speech that priests consider the churches they are transferred to as their homes. He requested the parishioners to pray for Fr. Noronha.

Remembering the days spent in Kulshekar Church 22 years back, Rev. Fr. Mathew Vas said that the people of Kulshekar are kind, God-fearing, and generous.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Melwyn Noronha thanked the parishioners who had arrived with him from Udupi, Taccode, and Kinnigoly to bid him good bye. He requested them to pray for him.

Fr. Arun Wilson Lobo, the assistant parish priest of Kulshekar, was the MC of the event.
