Kudla’s B R Shetty acquires Japanese diagnostic drug

Moodbidri, July 3, 2016: Famous NRI Mangalurean, B R Shetty, chief executive officer of NMC and UAE Exchange has acquired a Japanese drug company producing medicine for cancer diagnosis and same will be introduced in India to help people from economically weaker section. B R Shetty, a city-based entrepreneur settled in Middle East revealed about the new venture during a two-day job mela programme organised by Alva’s Education Foundation at Moodbidri on July 2, Saturday.

B R Shetty said particular drug named as ’ala’ made from a combination of fermented water and aminolevulinic acid can detect cancer at a very early stage. The technology is acquired from COSMO Oil Company Limited, Japan. "One needs to pop eight pills at once and if the person has cancer, his/her urine colour changes," he explained adding that there are no side effects. Same drug will also be used for diagnosing malaria, dengue and other vector borne diseases.

B R Shetty added that he has expressed about bringing technology to India during a recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The PM  readily agreed and is positive about bringing the Japanese technology to India," he pointed out that he is the first Indian to acquire a pharma company from Japan.

Describing Varanasi, the Holy place of pilgrimage for Hindus as one of the filthiest place, B R Shetty said he has plans to setup a nursing college there in the span of one year. This will help in producing the trained manpower who can supplement the health care system in the city, he noted.
