Kripa Alva courts controversy by speaking over cell phone during state anthem

Mangaluru, May 29, 2016: Kripa Alva, Chairperson of the State Children’s Rights Commission courted controversy on May 28, Saturday by  speaking over her cell phone  even as other dignitaries present at the  Stree Shakti members meet at Town Hall were  standing and paying respects to the state anthem while was being sung.

 

 

It is said Kripa received a call  when the state anthem was half way through and instead of waiting for the singing of anthem to be complete, she  began speaking over  the phone.  It was only after someone present there  pointed out at her folly that she had realised that she had shown disrespect to the state anthem.

The convention of Stree Shakthi members of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts was attended among others by state ministers Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Mahadeva Prasad and  Umashree.
