Kasargod, Sep 20, 2015 : The total number of arrests with regard to the major robbery at the Koodlu Service Co-operative Bank at Eriyal has risen to four with the police arresting another accused on September 19, Saturday.
The arrested person is Shanu alias Shahnawaz(22). The accused was arrested by the police even before he could surrender as per his plans.
Shanu who was hiding in Ernakulam, had come to Kasargod, apparently with an intention to surrender. It is said he tried to escape on seeing the cops but was caught.
The robbery had taken place on September 7 when a five member gang of masked men had barged into the bank and decamped with huge quantity of gold and cash of Rs 13 lakhs. Police are on the lookout for two more accused.
Though it was earlier stated that 21 kg of gold was stolen, they are saying that 17 kg gold had been stolen and that out of it 7.150 kg has been recovered so far.
