A petition  to the chief minister sent by the association said that Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario has used unparliamentary words against the proud son of Karnataka and Sahitya Academy Award winner Melvyn Rodrigues by calling him ’spineless and a weak man.  Ozario has also insulted Konkani artistes and writers by calling Gowda Saraswath Brahmins (GSBs) as their fathers. In addition, he has likened Konkani writers to Koragas, comparing the writers to those who wait outside the homes of people to eat leftovers and indulging in caste abuse.

The note said that it is a matter of grave concern to see that the state government had allotted Rs 2.5 crore grant in the 2016 budget for Mandd Sobhann, which is blatantly carrying out disruptive acts like caste abuse, insults, maligning name of writers and creating hatred and ill-will among Konkani-speaking people belonging to different religions and groups.

The KWA added that the Konkani Writers and Artistes Association has written a letter to the chief minister of Karnataka requesting him to withhold the grant given to Mandd Sobhann and also to cancel its registration as part of the disciplinary action.
