Konkani movie points to new hype in communication

Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2018: The premiere of the much-awaited Konkani movie ‘Planning Devachem,’ was held at Big Cinemas here. The film is produced under the banner of Goan Trinity Films.

Mangaluru Diocese Vicar General Maxim Noronha, who opened the show and blessed it, said, “It is another big  moment for Konkani-speaking community. In its Goa release, the movie gained much appreciation and became a blockbuster. We are happy that this movie is now in Mangaluru. Making a movie is an achievement. A lot of hard work is required for it. Movies are an effective way to communicate with the masses and by this we can spread the lasting social values.”

Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario said, “In coastal Karnataka, Tulu cinema industry has attained a great height. But when it comes to Konkani industry, there is much to be achieved. We have groups within us which do not allow us to grow. But ‘Planning Devachem’ is a good step  to overcome the rigid mentality.”

The movie is produced by a Goan producer while a Karnataka-born director has directed the movie. Actors from both the states have acted in the movie.  It is a good sign for Konkani cine industry, he added.


‘Planning Devachem’ is directed by Rajesh Fernandes. Konkani and Marathi actor, Tapan Acharya, is the lead actor in the movie. Cicil and Seema Buthello are the heroines. Actors like Eddie Fernandes, Stany Alvares, Prince Jacob, John D’Silva, Rons London and others have donned different roles in the movie.

The film is shot in places like Mangaluru, Honnavar, Karwar and Goa.  Along with the well-known artistes, new faces from Mangaluru and Goa are also introduced in the movie. Music is composed by Raphael Vinay. N Ramesh Babu is the cinematographer.
