Konkani Kutam, Bahrain Award presented to Fr Prashanth Madtha

Mangaluru, July 29, 2018: Renowned Konkani-Kannada scholar and columnist Fr Prashanth Madtha was conferred the 17th Konkani Kutam Award at a  ceremony held at St. Sebastian Church Hall, Bendore on July 28, Saturday.

Well-known Kannada poet and writer Jayanth Kaikini felicitated Fr Prashanth Madtha on the occasion.  Noted  Konkani poet and Kendra Sahitya Academy Award winner Melvyn Rodrigues, who was the chief guest, handed over the citation to Fr Madtha and Konkani Kutam, Bahrain Convenor Richard Moras, handed over a cheque for Rs 50,000  as part of the Award.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayanth Kaikini described Fr Madtha as a free thinker  and added that his books were a reflection of his thoughts.

 Hailing from Sullia, Fr Prashanth Madtha is a former principal of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru and St Joseph’s College Bengaluru.
