Konkan food promotion on Konkan routes

Mangaluru, Nov 27, 2014: Konkan Railway will be promoting sale of local produce of Konkan Region through the catering stalls at various stations  on advise given by Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu.

 

According to Konkan Railway, the minister desired that Konkan products popularly called as ’Konkani Meva’, which includes cashew nuts, kokam serbet, sweetmeats made of mango and jackfruit should be widely publicized and put up on sale at various stalls. He emphasized putting up more number of special ’Kokam Stalls’ at major stations.

Prabhu has also instructed that exclusive stalls/restaurants should be planned at major stations selling only Maharashtrian cuisine items in general and Konkani cuisine in particular.

Following this, Konkan Railway is making elaborate plans to implement the instructions of the minister. Konkan Railway is also planning to have an exclusive catering stall/restaurant at Ratnagiri Station for Konkani cuisine.
