Konkan Railway to take up line electrification and track doubling

Mangaluru, Oct 18,2016: According to a media release received here, KRCL, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd will take up the electrification of the 741-km line along the western coast soon. Doubling work has already begun between Roha and Veer stations in Maharashtra. The construction of freight siding for MRPL is in progress.

On profit generated, statement was Rs 129.5 crore in 2015-16, improving from Rs 39.39 crore in 2014-15. The project revenue has also increased to Rs 526 crore in 2015-16 as against Rs 350 crore in 2014-15. The trend is continuing even in 2016-17.

New trains have been introduced - Hazrat Nizamuddin-Goa (biweekly) Rajdhani Express, Madgaon-LTT Double Decker (triweekly) and Indore-Kochuveli (weekly) Express. To make travel of valued customers more user-friendly, travelator at Ratnagiri station and escalators at Madgaon and Udupi stations have been commissioned. Four new ATMs were provided in certain stations, 17 stations will have CCTV surveillance.
