Kollur Temple food for CM’s Sadhana Samavesha kicks off row

Kundapur, Jan 09, 2018: The lunch arrangements made by Kollur Shree Mookambika Temple for the thousands of people including Congress workers who had converged for the  Sadhana Samavesh and  the launching of Rs 490.97 crore worth projects in Byndoor by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 8, Monday   has kicked off a row.

Several people have questioned as to why lunch arrangements were made on behalf of the shrine. These people also want to know how the leaders who had suspended the mid-day meal grants provided by the shrine to a school  have now chosen to have food from the very same shrine, that too for a public function. Social media is also abuzz with discussions in this regard.

Temple  officials clarify :  Kollur Shrine Executive Officer Janardhan who has clarified on the issue said there has been no  violation of rule and that there is scope to offer lunch on behalf of the temple as it was a government programme. The Tahsildar had earlier made a written appeal and as per the decision  taken at the Temple Committee the lunch was arranged, he said. He further said that   foreseeing a dispute following the cancellation of temple grants for the school, the  Committee Chairman had himself provided a cheque for Rs 1 lakh towards lunch arrangement for the function.

 

The Temple Committee Chairman Harish Kumar Shetty also  confirmed that  he had provided a cheque for Rs 1 lakh as expenses towards lunch.
