Even as officials are scrambling to trace the contacts of the state’s 15th positive case, Kodagu deputy commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy told reporters in Madikeri on Thursday that the 35-year-old man had returned to his native place Kuttimotte in Kondangeri of Virajpet taluk from Dubai.

Besides cordoning off his house, the five km stretch from Kondangeri to his house has also been declared a buffer zone. In all, 305 people from 75 families in the village have been asked to quarantine themselves at their homes and have been told not to move out. Check-posts have been set up in the village. Shops and hotels have been closed. The district administration will provide items of daily need to the people of Kondangeri, the DC said.

On being diagnosed with coronavirus symptoms, the person had admitted himself to the district hospital on March 17. He was quarantined in the isolation ward of the hospital and the blood and swab samples were sent for tests at Mysuru Medical College.

The medical report on Thursday confirmed that the person was positive for Covid-19.

The person had boarded an Indigo flight (6E96) from Dubai and arrived at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru on March 15 at 4.15 pm. On the way to Madikeri, he had refreshments at Mysuru and Maddur. “Necessary measures were taken to disinfect the vehicles,” the DC said.
