Kites and festivities give colour to Manipal End Point

Manipal, Feb 05, 2019: Tarang - the 7th kite festival, drew young and old alike to a fun day associated with the annual festival.

The festival was organised at the football ground in End Point on February 3, Sunday and put together by Volunteer Services Organization of MAHE.

This year, the theme was ‘I Am, I Will’, was similar to the World Cancer Day theme only to create awareness about the dreadful disease.

The annual kite flying day attracted thousands of people who enjoyed a pleasant afternoon of drama, dances, street plays and other entertainment that were organised along with kite flying.

Over thousand kites were also sold, according to VSO coordinator, Dr Anup Naha, who expects the proceeds from the event to cross Rs one lakh. “The funds will be used to support awareness on prevention of cancer,” Dr Naha added.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Dr H S Ballal, Proc Chancellor, MAHE, were present. The three-hour fun-filled programme had plenty for everyone. Food stalls with a variety of eatables, dances by the inmates of Asare, Academy school, kids residing in Saralabettu slums and cultural activities by student teams from various colleges of MAHE made for the entertainment.

Students from drama teams of KMC, MCOPS performed street plays depicting causes and early prevention of cancer to create awareness among the crowd. There were also a number of games for kids.
