Nabeel, who hails from Trissur, had rented a house in Deralakatte. His parents are in the Gulf. Nabeel was also supervising the construction of a multi-storied building on land owned by his family.

His parents had sent him large sums of cash for the construction work. A gang of kidnappers, who knew this very well, plotted to kidnap him. Some sources feel that there is some clash regarding land issues between Nabeel and his kidnappers.

Eyewitnesses say that the car went in the direction of Kasargod after the kidnapping. The crime branch team, under the leadership of Venkatesh Prasanna, acted on a tip off, gave chase, arrested the kidnappers, and rescued Nabeel.

The arrested are now in the Ullal police station.
