Khader to meet petroleum minister to seek increase in PMUY quota

Mangaluru, Sep 17, 2016: Karnataka Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader said he will soon meet Union minister of state (independent charge) for petroleum & natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for LPG connection scheme in the state. Khader told reporters here on Sept 16, Friday that the meeting will take place after September 22.


U T KhaderHe said the central government has decided to implement the PMUY scheme in Karnataka based on the 2011 census. As per the 2011 census, 23-26 lakh BPL families in the state are eligible to get free LPG connection under the scheme.


However, the state has more families that are eligible to get LPG connection under the scheme, Khader said and added that he will request the Union minister to increase the number of beneficiaries.
