Kerala man on the run after fleecing several job aspirants

Mangaluru, April 22, 2015: Nearly 30 to 35  students of a so called bogus institution named “Academy of Career Guidance Incorporation (Trust) at Bikarnakatte in Mangaluru  who were found locked up inside the premises of the institution  were rescued by  the police who rushed to the spot after gathering information on April 21, Tuesday. It has been gathered that the students were locked up by the security personnel  after they demanded their money back alleging that they have been cheated by the institution.

 

 

Police are now on the lookout for one Santosh of Kerala origin who operated the institution after  collecting hefty fees from students with a promise of offering jobs in railways and defence sectors. He has been accused of cheating many of several lakhs of rupees.

It is gathered that the modus operandi of the accused Santosh was to first collect a list of candidates who could not qualify in the  recruitment tests in defence, railways and other government sectors and then contacting them with a promise of jobs in their chosen field.

Though Santosh used to lure students with the promise of free training, once they joined, he reportedly  collected fees ranging between Rs 15000 to Rs one lakh. Though many job aspirants from Puttur, Belthangady, Udupi and also from the far off Vijayapura  and Ballary joined the institution, none of them got jobs.

It is said some of the students who were thus cheated had approached Santosh on April 14 demanding their money back. Though Santosh had then reportedly promised to yield to their demand, he it is learnt, went missing since then.

Several students of the institution who were present said they had paid varying  amount as fees for  getting jobs. Even three cooks of West Bengal origin, who worked in the  hostel run  by the institution alleged that though their employer had given their salary, he did not allow them to return home.

DCP Santosh Babu, Kadri Inspector TD Nagaraj and other police personnel who rushed to the spot and  rescued the students, later  said the police have also got information form student that Santosh was even involved in issuing fake  degree and caste certificates.

Further investigations are underway.
