Kateel Mela incident: District in-charge Minister seeks report from DC

Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2019: State Minister for Mujrai and DK District in-charge Minister  Kota Srinivas Poojary has instructed Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada to submit a detailed report on the incidents that took place during the commencement of Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Mela  of this year.

 

The Minister’s reaction comes in the wake of Friday night’s incident wherein  Bhagavatha Patla Satish Shetty was asked to vacate the Rangasthala during the  Seva  Yakshagana show to mark the commencement of the  Thirugaata or tour of the Kateel Yakshagana Melas.

Patla Satish Shetty’s admirers had even convened a meeting on Saturday to condemn the incident and have decided to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday.

The Mela Convenor had earlier clarified  that  Shetty was  come to the stage despite being  informed in advance that he need not be a Bhagavatha for the Mela this year.
