Kasturiragan report : State files objections to MoEF again

Bengaluru, Nov 04, 2015:  DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai has said that  Karnataka has filed its second set of objections to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) with regard to the Kasturirangan panel recommendations, seeking to exclude inhabited areas  and sand mining and quarrying areas from the purview of eco-sensitive areas (ESAs).

Ramanatha RaiSpeaking to reporters here on November 3, Tuesday, Raid said the objections were filed on October 28.. The Kasturirangan Commission has recommended that  the sand mining and quarrying activities   should be banned in Eco Sensitive Areas in the Western Ghats. The Government however wants that these area should be regulated considering local development.

Here it is worth  mentioning that November 5 is the last date for filing objections to the panel’s recommendations.
