The protesters  were shouting slogans against him and asking him to go back. They were demanding justice for Vinayak Baliga. Over 200 of protestors including women and children were detained by the police from 5 to 10 pm and released them after the Seer went back. The protests erupted in many parts of Kerala against the present seer of Kashimath- Samyameendra Teertha alleging that he had a role in the murder of Vinayak Baliga. First it started in Allapuzha in the first week of May, 2016. It seems like the protest is spreading to other parts of Kerala where the GSB community is prevalent.

There are also rumors that the venue of his scheduled ‘Chaturmasa’(staying put at a place for four months during the monsoons) at Kanhangad has been shifted to Mangalore.
